Due to the limitation of installation space and performance requirements, the automobile engine cooling water pump has the characteristics of small size, simple production, and good mass production. Cooling water pumps are generally composed of pump body, impeller, shaft bearing, water seal, belt pulley and other main components.
The pump body pressure water chamber can be integrated and designed on the engine block according to the structure of the engine block, or it can be configured separately. Determine the performance of the cooling water pump.
There are many types of cooling water pump structures. According to different impeller materials, they can be divided into cast iron impellers, stamped impellers and plastic impellers; according to whether the impeller has a cover plate, it can be divided into open impellers and closed impellers; according to the shape of the impeller blades, it can be divided into open impellers and closed impellers. It is divided into straight blade impeller, single curvature blade impeller and space twisted blade impeller.
The structure of the automobile water pump is relatively simple, but the structural differences and technological requirements should still be paid attention to when disassembling and repairing. The general disassembly and assembly procedures and precautions are as follows:
(1) Remove the drive belt, remove the fastening nut and washer of the fan pulley, remove the fan pulley and wheel with a puller, and pay attention to the half-round key.
(2) Remove the fixing bolts of the pump cover, and remove the pump cover and gasket.
(3) For the structure where the impeller is press-fitted on the water pump shaft, use a puller to remove the impeller from the water pump shaft. For the structure where the impeller is fastened to the pump shaft with bolts, the bolts should be unscrewed first, and then the impeller should be removed with a puller.
(4) For the structure that uses two ball bearings to support the water pump shaft, the outer diameter of the bearing positioning snap ring should be measured in advance. If the outer diameter is smaller than the water seal seat hole on the pump casing, the impeller and the hydromagnetic shaft can be pressed out from the side of the pump cover together; if the outer diameter of the snap ring is larger than the water seal seat hole on the pump casing, a puller can be used to remove the impeller from the water seal seat hole on the pump casing. Remove the water pump shaft. The integral pump shaft and bearing structure is adopted. If a snap ring is installed in the middle of the bearing, the snap ring should be opened from the groove in the middle of the bearing seat before pressing out the pump shaft.
(5) The graphite sealing ring is used for water seal, and the water seal can be ejected from the side of the pump cover with a mandrel. Some domestic automobile engine water pumps use combined water seals, the water seal parts are installed in the impeller, and the parts can be taken out by removing the snap ring.
(6) The assembly of the water pump is in the reverse order of decomposition. After assembling, turn the belt pulley by hand, it should be flexible and free from jamming; shake the belt pulley by hand, there should be no obvious looseness in the pump shaft; check the drain hole should be open; finally, inject an appropriate amount of designated grease from the grease nipple. If there are conditions, after the water pump is repaired, the flow rate inspection should be carried out on the test bench.
